Innovation Democracy
Entrepreneurship Program at Kabul University
The Innovation Democracy entrepreneurship program at Kabul University comprises of an introductory module and a full year course that incorporates a mid-term apprenticeship program. The entrepreneurship program is organized by Innovation Democracy Afghanistan, and offers graduating students a chance to learn the skills necessary for starting and managing their own business.
The program was started up with an introductory module called Introduction to Entrepreneurship at Kabul University during the Fall 2007. The introductory module and the entire program will follow the best teaching practices used in leading edge entrepreneurship programs around the world. The program is supervised by Professor Liisa Valikangas from Helsinki School of Economics and Dr. Sari Stenfors from Stanford University and is taught by Wagma Mohmand. The teaching methodologies in the courses follow Benjamin Franklin’s motto: “Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I learn”. The program concentrates on integrating experiential exercises with theoretical knowledge and the participants will get a taste of entrepreneurial opportunities and challenges. In April 2008, a full course, Innovative Entrepreneurship, continues building on the knowledge created in the introductory module. Both courses are elective courses and designed to accommodate minimum 50 students.
